Try to draw him out about what he now believes and stay in strict listening mode - tyr to get him to recognise he has some residual issues and that counselling may help him with that. It will be tricky and will require some skill on your behalf but I am sure you can do it. At the appropriate time you might want to introdcue him toa friendly apostate form JWN. Best of luck - at least he sees himself as an ex-JW, that has to be a start!

Being an Atheist Is Bad For Your Health
by Space Madness ini stopped believing in god in july 2013. in the first 3 months or so i felt liberated and relieved that i can live my life anyway i wanted without worrying about an invisible being watching my every move.
i also felt slightly superior that i was able to figure out that god isn't real while the majority of mankind continued to be fooled.
atfer the feelings of excitment statrted to wear off, i started to become more depressed and empty.

There are lots of atheists who have died in religious inspired bloodshed...NOT There are lots of atheist fundamentalists commiting acts of terrorism...NOT. Looking at a place like Egypt - they may have less deaths from suicide but they have a lot more deaths from religious inspired violence. Same in India, Sri Lanka etc.

Where is Jesus according to the WBTS?
by Frazzled UBM ini have been reverse witnessing to a witness at work who i told about my witness wife.
i think he thinks he is well on his way to make me a study but i have asked him to provide evidence that the wbrts is what it claims to be by reference to how it was appointed and how the current gb came to inherit that authority.
but one issue we ahd was the position of jesus accordign to the wbts and he said that he sits in heaven at the right hand of jehovah planning the future.

Kate - this guy is reasonable bright and seems open to listen to what I have to say (unlike my wife) and appears sincere in looking at the Proclaimers book to answer the questions I have put to him. So I am following the approach proposed by Donny and by the Captives of a Concept book by getting him to do the research to answer my questions and discover things for himself and it will be interesting to see if I make any headway. He mentioned toi me that he was comfortable witht he fact that the doctrine changed and I responded by saying that this would be fine if the WBTS acknowledged that their doctrine was siomply their understanding and that it may change ion teh future and they were open to comments about their understanding but that that was ntop what they did - they said it is the Truth and they shun people if they don't accept it lock, stock and barrel. He hasn't responded to that email yet. Anyway - it is interesting. Cheers Fraz

dozy - interesting - I put this view of Jesus to my Witness colleague who thinks he is getting me to study, but he refuted by saying Jesus was very important and that the GB are under Jesus' authority to direct the preaching work on Earth.

Apognophus: 'How did Jesus appoint them from heaven? Well, that part's not so far-fetched. I mean, he's a spirit creature, he doesn't need to physically be down here, or ruling over the world actively, in order to observe or appoint someone.' Having never been a Witness this is the bit I don't get. How did the organisation know they had been appointed? AS far as I can tell the GB simpoly asserts that they were appointed without any details around the circumstances of the appointment. How do they get away with this?

Bizarre comment about jw.org at SAD
by sir82 inrecently attended a sad.. bethel speaker was gushing about the wt's embrace of new technology, in the part of his talk warning about "apostate" web sites.. a loose summary of his comments:.
"and the brothers at headquarters have made it very safe for you to go to our website.
in fact, the brothers talked to the folks at google, and they made a special arrangement so that when you type in 'j w period' into the google search engine, it automatically shows you the jw.org website.

I agree with cantleave - it is just how the algo works - luck (or maybe good management - do they have a computer geek at Bethel who worked out how the algo works and so suggested JW.org for exactly that reason?) but I am sure the GB will see J's hand in there

ALL JW's to be at the meeting this week...
by Newly Enlightened in.
we asked this person if it could be aqbout the terminology change and they said that was already read last week...... we remember the last time they did this.
got everyone all excited thinking the big "a" was coming and all it was about, was the literature would now be donated instead of charging for it.. .

Apognophus - Is that what they always believed? Interesting he has come back with that answer so that does seem to be the party line. But is that really what they have always believed? How could Jesus have appointed the Bible Students/Watchtower as Jehovah's organisation from heaven?
